Artist History
Blue Funk is actually the creative vision of one man, with a little help from his friends. I guess the history started in Hartford, CT with Jeff Pitchell and Texas Flood. Jeff is one of the nations premier blues guitarists who performed as a Stevie Ray Vaughan tribute called Texas Flood for years, receiving national recognition. Jeff has released two CD's through Premier records (Fat Cigars and One Day Away) under the name Jeff Pitchell and Texas Flood. Meanwhile in New Orleans, two fellas named Steve Mendoza and Richard Newcombe III started creating some music of their own, also heavily influenced by Stevie, Hendrix, Page, Ben Harper, among others. Long story short, the three met up in Hartford, CT at a classic 2-inch analog studio with a room full of vintage gear and a genius of an engineer named Mike Deming who put this thang together. All sounds are authentic, analog, and in the spirit of the continous "song". I (meaning Steve) have just relocated to San Diego and currently I'm putting together an electric band to promote the record. |
