    Artist History
You are about to listen to the first in series of projects that I call 'the journey'. Utilizing the latest computer and software technologies I am able to produce very emotional and relaxing sounds. I have enjoyed music my whole life and I wanted to express myself musically in a manner that people could enjoy . Music should be a total experience. Not just auditory, but visually and mentally also. In my music I try to generate an emotion; a remembrance per say, that leaves you thinking, wondering, and imagining. Volume 1 is a collection of ambient and trance songs mixed during the spring and summer of 2001. I envisioned the concept of 'the journey' while listening to artists like Radio Head, Enigma, Moby, and Enya. I found the music to be very relaxing and the melodies intrigued me. I loved how the music told a story and took the listener on a journey. After listening to what now seems like countless hours of music to get ideas, I decided to talk to a buddy of mine. Our discussion proved to be positive and I decided to investigate how to go about creating this kind of music. After some trail and error I found the right mix of "instruments". I utilized two personal computers and a laptop mainly to mix and sample different sounds. I used software like Acid Pro, Sound Forge, Fruity Loops, and Re-Birth. I also took this a step further by recording "real world" sounds. The thunder, rain, and crickets in "the storm", for example, were recorded live. I also utilized samples from the Korg and Yamaha keyboards. I hope that you enjoy your journey. I am purposely not explaining the stories behind these songs. Everyone envisions something different. That is what I would like you to do now. Just close your eyes, sit back, relax, and let the music take you away. I would like to thank Jerry Drouillard and Matt Gordon for their comments and assistance in helping me "tweak" the music. I would also like to thank Bob Hooper and Steve the 'T-Man' for making my passion for music that much more intense. Thanks guys! ...big bri!

Ever since he was young, Big Bri! has always enjoyed all genres of music. As he grew, so did his tastes in music. From rap, classic rock, alternative, to now what he feels is the ultimate expression - electronica. "Electronica affords the artist many different avenues to travel when trying to express an emotion to your listeners.", he says. "Especially Trance! I can take the listener anywhere I want. Mentally, physically and emotionally." While on vacation in late 1999, Big Bri! started discussing ideas for an electronica concept album with a friend. Not really sure how to go about converting his thoughts into music, he started to do a little investigative work. Being a computer network engineer, he had quit a bit of high-end systems to work with. So logically, software based loop music programs were an obvious choice. Over the next year he worked for hours learning the limits of his software packages and creating the beginnings of his first release, "The Journey - Volume 1". All along listening to the likes of Moby, Enigma, Nine Inch Nails, Enya and others to get musical ideas. "The learning curve was exhausting. Some days I would literally spend over 15 hours mixing, re-mixing, and then re-mixing again until it sounded just right.", he says. "But I do have to say, the end result is truly awesome! It was definitely worth all the hard work." Big Bri! uses his music to tell a story. He feels that music should be listened to - not just heard. All the songs on his albums sound great by themselves, but together, listening is truly another experience. Currently, Big Bri! is changing his direction in the creativity arena. Taking the knowledge he is learning from classic DJ's such as Paul Oakenfold and DJ Sasha, he is taking his mix of Trance music to the next level. "It has always amazed me that someone can utilize two turn tables and create some of the most awesome - powerful sounds, on the fly. This, I feel, is true talent." He continues, "The big club sound is what I've been working towards and the big advantage that I have is that I'm not limited by LP selection or live performances. You see, in the computer I can make mistakes, and no one is the wiser." "I feel that I've finally found my calling. I truly enjoy what I'm creating and so do my listeners. What's truly awesome is the fact that this started out just as a hobby. Now it's turning into something more." Big Bri! was born in Alexandria, Virginia 1970. Soon after, his parents moved to Livonia, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. Big Bri! has lived there ever since. Most all of his inspiration takes place in the northern parts of Michigan, around Houghton Lake. He has said some of his songs are based on life experiences. However, he doesn't go into much detail, "The stories behind my music are mine. Things I've seen, people I've known, stuff I want to say. I don't want the listener to be constrained to my thoughts - I want them to generate their own." Well Bri!, we agree that you have found your calling. You indeed generate lots of emotions with your music, it's truly from the heart. Keep the hits coming! Written by: D.Brothel, Trance Music January 10, 2002
