    Artist description
Mitz was born in Nagoya, Japan in 1970. As a little child, he learned to play the piano through his mother, who was a piano teacher. However, like many children do, he stopped playing the piano when he was about 9. He picked up the guitar for the first time when he was 14. He took a classical guitar class in Junior High; he started playing the classical guitar for fun. He picked up his first electric guitar when he was 16.After turning 18, for five years, he studied the guitar with Dr. Frank DiBussolo (who is currently a DBK Jazz recording artist) while studying at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA. Dr. DiBussolo, a well-known music educator and a prolific jazz-based studio musician in his own right based in Philadelphia, opened Mitz' eyes to jazz music as well as different aspect of music, including composing, arranging, and singing. Dr. DiBussolo always taught to be a complete musician, not just a guitarist.Mitz began composing when he was 15 years old. He grew up listening to the 80's pop music, and even today he claims to be influenced mostly by the 80's/AOR (Album Oriented Rock) music in terms of his music style. He credits David Foster, Richard Marx, and Toto as his biggest influences in his composition and arrangement. As for his guitar playing, he idolizes guitarists such as Steve Lukather, Larry Carlton, Michael Landau, and Jay Graydon. He has been playing in numerous bands throughout his musical career thus far. One of his highlights as a young guitarist included palying live in front of nearly 1000 audience at Brandeis University in Waltham, MA in December of 1993 as the lead guitarist of Brave New Squirrels, a show which was broadcasted live on a Boston-area radio station. These days, Mitz has been spending more time in the studio recording his album of songs he has written. He has started his "recording career" in 1991, and has been spending time recording on and off ever since. In January 1997, he got involved in a recording project organized by a Swedish guitarist by the name of Tommy Denander, who is one of the most respected guitarist of his generation to come out of Sweden and has recorded internationally. Mitz contributed an instrumental piece that he penned and he played with his long-time partner-in-crime, Rob Klamka on the piano. The CD from this project is due out any minute now, and you will be able to purchase a copy of the album once the album is released. Mitz is currently working on recording a full album consisting of his songs, with his performing most of the instruments. The album has been long-overdue, mainly because he is often keeping himself busy with his personal life outside of music. He is hoping that he will be able to conclude finishing this album so that he can get as many people to hear and enjoy his music. Stay tuned!
