Artist History
Eddie started his musical career in Toronto and the Yorkville scene. He later moved to Vancouver and won a Juno Award in 1977 with Valdy and the Hometown Band. Notable amoung many television and concert appearances were "Patterson's Jam" for CBC (with the young Brian Adams on background vocals), the Eddie Patterson Trust (with Randy Travis' drummer Jerry Adolph), as a featured soloist with new age jazzman Paul Horn and the Victoria Symphony premiering David Amran's Triple Concerto, and a stint as a member of the Vancouver Company of John Gray's Rock and Roll. In Los Angelos Eddie worked numerous sessions with Canadian producer David Foster. The wealth and variety of Eddie's musical experience has fueled his considerable talent as an instrumental composer and songwriter to compliment his guitar mastery. As winner of the Roland Corporation's International Tape Contest in 1984 (over 750 entrants worldwide) he was able to familiarize himself with the then revolutionary "electric guitar" which offered Eddie new worlds of sound to explore. In the same year he recorded the accomplished "Distinguished Alien" album of original instrumental music which broke new guitar ground. Moving to Edmonton he did session work with Wes Dakus, Mavis McAuley, George Blondheim and Sundown Studios, where he came to appreciate the creative energy, abundance of talent and collaborative spirit that characterizes the Edmonton Arts Community. In 1989, Eddie was the winner of the first FENDER NATIONAL GUITAR WARZ in Toronto and set a vaulted standard for future guitar warriors. Other sessions and live performances in Edmonton have seen Eddie working with, amoung others, Big Miller, JAZU, Tacoy Ryde, Cold Feet, Brian Fustukian, Joanna Petty and Rick Tennant, the Star Tracks winners for 1990 and 1991. Eddie is also an active composer of theatrical scores and film soundtracks, conducts guitar seminars, teaches privately, contributes to music trade publications and has acted for screen and stage. Currently he is busy recording and performing with the Stone Merchants, Nuerra, and others. |
