Artist description
Roxanne's music is a rock-country-blues hybrid that combines strong, hooky melodies with sensitive, honest lyrics. Her three-plus-octave range, and her ability to combine power on one line with raw vulnerability on the next, invite comparisons to singers as diverse as Emmylou Harris and Pat Benatar. |

Artist History
Although Roxanne grew up in a small town in Arkansas, she counts the Beatles, Motown and 70s rock as her major influences. Her natural singing ability became apparent by the age of 3, when she began performing in talent shows at the college where her father was a professor. In high school she put together her own band, and she continued to perform locally throughout college. After graduating with a B.A. in English and a teaching certificate, Roxanne headed straight to Nashville. There she developed a strong following in clubs like the Bluebird Cafe, performing songs by writers like Gary Nicholson and Wendy Waldman, with a band made up of top Nashville session players who saw her talent. But the feeling that she was being perceived as "too rock for country," led her to New York. She has been featured in industry showcases and now plays with her band in Manhattan clubs, including Sidewalk Cafe and the Bitter End. She has opened for New Age lecturer and writer Marianne Williamson at Town Hall and is also an actress who has appeared in several films |
