Artist History In the summer of 1981, a ten year old future bass player named Huch Platt saw his first MTV video and said, "I'm going to have a rock band, and it's going to be called Ripe." The idea became reality when he formed Ripe with singer John Freeman, and drummer Kaya Shaffer in San Luis Obispo,CA.
