Artist History
In Boston Leora Salo found her gift for songwriting. Transplanted from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to attend Berklee College of Music, Leora quickly became a coffeehouse regular, caught up in the currents of contemporary acoustic music. Her Euro-ethnic folk roots and love for Celtic and Indian music found new form, nurtured by the influences of jazz improvisation. Finishing Berklee, Salo worked as a music therapist at a state psychiatric hospital. At night, with guitar in tow, Salo played Boston’s subways and coffeehouses. Notebook, flute and guitar, in hand, Salo journeyed to the British Isles to further study Celtic music and culture with Martin Simpson and Pierre Bensusan. Leora Salo currently resides in Houston, Texas. |
