Artist History
This was a one-time collaboration produced in 1990 by Eric Siegel.
It was recorded using an eight track Otari at 15 IPS and a
Soundcraft mixer. The stereo synthesizer tracks were printed on
tracks 6 and 7 of the Otari, and played through speakers facing
the audience. The musicians responded to the recorded music (in some
cases the pieces were notated, in others, just open-ended). Their
responses were recorded to tracks 1-5. The pieces were mixed to DAT.

Group Members
At the time of this recording, Eric Siegel was composing
and producingcommercial as well as experimental music.
Dave Douglas is one of the most well regarded and
respected trumpeter composers in the jazz/improvisational
music world. At the time of this recording he
was beginning to make a name for himself in NYC clubs, and playing in the subway
Gerry Hemmingway is a drummer well known for his
collaborations with Marilyn Crispell and Anthony
Braxton.
Mark Whitecage has been playing with Anthony Braxton and
many other improvisational musicians (I think I saw
recently that he's been playing with Joe Morris)
Cooper Moore is a pianist who is now playing with William
Parker and Suzy Ibarra. When I met him, he was playing
a home made zither on the street, and he brought a bass
version of that zither to this performance. |
