    Artist History
George Koumantzelis ("Your Yonder Yogurt Yogi") - a member in the past of bands such as: Paradox, Mammoth, The Spuds, Loon Hill, Two Bald Spots & A Wrinkle, The Duffer Zone, Internal Combustion, The Stalagtites, and Headband; and a collaborator with the bands of numerous other musicians - has been rocking this world since he began kicking-out the beat in his mother's womb. (Just ask her!) One look at the back cover of Pink Floyd's UMMAGUMMA album, and he was hooked! Electric Instruments, Drums - and that Gong! ... He plays, and composes, his music on guitar, drums, and sythesizers. He began playing percussion instruments at age 9; drum sets at age 21; writing poetry, song lyrics, and music at age 15; and recording his own music as well as the music of other musicians since 1985 - when he became the metanoic "pectin in the jam" where the cosmic crew of characters, circling around the central core, changes in cycles - and where The Basement Beats and The Woodshed Grunts in Wamesit! ... High Ground. Sacred Ground. Indian Land... He sees himself as a musical midwife and an eco-philosopher, and Aeolian Kid as one noble means to help save the planet while simultaneously having a good time. He is also the co-founder of the following bands: The Abstract Orangutans, Barefoot Nunus, The Basement Beats, Headband, Landing In Libra, True Age, and The Woodshed Grunts. ... A photographer, environmental-sociolgist, and former owner of a natural-food store - some of his friends call him: "The Granola Guru."
    Group Members
The band that created this first album was: George Koumantzelis (who composed and arranged all the music and song lyrics; played piano, synthesizers, drums, and percussion; and sang all the vocals); Michael Ginieres (who played lead guitar on three songs, rhythm guitar on one, and some sythesizer on another); Peter Orphanos who played lead guitar on two songs, and rhythm guitar on one); Alex Michaels (who played bass guitar on one song); Fred Vigeant (who played lead guitar on two songs, rhythm guitar on two songs, and bass guitar on one song); Leo Tanguay (who played drums on one song); Dan Sanda (who played lead guitar on one song); Brian Dugay (who played bass guitar on one song); Katherine Karr (who sang harmony vocals on two songs); and Kristina "Moose" McInerney (who sang harmony vocals on one song). This humble incarnation of the band is no longer in existence at this point in time. The original logo-artwork for the album cover was derived from a "work-for-hire" concert poster done for Aeolian Kid by the talented artist and musician named Rebecca Bogart - of the band: Headband - (who owns the full copyright on the original "work-for-hire" concert poster artwork). The final album cover itself - as it appears here - is a carefully edited, modified, and enhanced version of part of the original "work-for-hire" concert poster artwork, combined with a photographic "montage" image created by George Koumantzelis of Aeolian Photographic Works (P.O. BOX 201, Dunstable, MA 01827-0201). This work (as well as the album cover design) was done by George Koumantzelis (who owns the full copyright on the Aeolian Kid logo and the album cover alone). This first album was engineered, recorded, mixed, and produced by George Koumantzelis. It is the second album released on the Aeolian Ergonautics record label - home of: Aeolian Kid, The Basement Beats, The Woodshed Grunts, Abstract Orangutans, and Landing In Libra. (The band, Barefoot Nunus, releases its work on the "Barefoot Nunus Productions" record label. The band, True Age, releases its work on the True Age Records record label.) ... Press Reviews
    1. "KID STUFF: Aeolian Kid, the local band featuring George Koumantzelis (who runs the Aeolia Whole Foods at 176 Church Street in Lowell) and a slew of local players, has just released a 74-minute CD, "Euripides Rising." It's available at Aeolia for $10, and is described as 'Original space-blues, hard-folk, and alternative rock & roll music,' but knowing the eclectic Koumantzelis, it's probably much more, too. More on this soon." - David Perry, "On The Record," The Lowell Sun, Entertainment, Page 15, Friday, February 26, 1993.... 2. " 'Them Blues' has a real cool beat, interesting vocals, and the most awesome guitarist I've heard in a while. The guitarist plays with a lot of feeling, real melodic and bluesy, with tasty solos. The lyrics could use some work." - Carrie Borzillo, "Regional Music Review," The New England BEAT, Vol VII, No. 9, Issue 165, Page 25, September 20, 1990.... 3. "... Now, the sound quality on this thing wasn't all that bad, and actually sounds better than some of the bands mentioned above. For the record, I didn't listen to all of this; there just isn't enough time in the day, but I like the quirkiness of this thing. It's raw, and the blues action works well. ..." - Bill Jackson, "Burning Chrome," Boston Rock, No. 122, Page 14, April, 1992.... 4. "Looking at the CD itself, it's packaged well and looks attractive to the consumer. ... Now, to be fair, most of this stuff was recorded on a 4-track and 2-track, except for two songs which were recorded on 16-track. ... As far as the music goes, George's tunes and vocals sound a lot like Neil Young's, which is cool. ... The songs themselves are kinda droney, but the lyrics are cool and tell interesting stories. Highlights for me were: 'He's Weird,' and 'Hard-Core Punk-Rocker. What I like about this stuff is that it reminds me of those days when I used to have endless jam sessions with my friends when I was a kid. You know, smoke a couple of joints, fire-up the 2-track, and then play the same groove for hours. Those were the days. ... It's obvious to me that George thinks about music and recording differently than most of us. He shuns the cliche's and the Status Quo. ..." - Brian Lewis, New England Performer, Pages 97 & 98, June, 1993.... 5. "Original Space-Blues, Hard-Folk, and Alternative Rock & Roll Music - 74 minutes and 29 seconds of truly unique songs by these Aeolian woodshedding grunts from the psychedelic spheres of Wamesit!" - "Instant Ads," Option Magazine, Page 133, No. 52, September / October, 1993.
