Artist description
A freshman Male thrasher band from 1993. Some of the band members wanted a thumping percussive style a la Fugazi and Helmet. Others wanted to bring forth the classic sound of OC punk rock. Still others wanted to put forth the animal/machine aggression of Rollins on stage. The band crystallized "hard" as a lifestyle and as a performance style. |

Artist History
From Santa Clara University. Played between November of 1992 and March of 1993. Had one "reunion" practice in Jan 1994.During the band's brief career, only two club shows were played, the rest being parties, and campus events. One memorable show was at the Alpha Phi sorority talent show. Competing against dance groups, and 80s Men at Work cover bands, Vietnun stood apart with a confronational stage show that featured the bassist dropping his pants. One snooty young sorority lady attempted to take the mike from the singer, who ran in circles around the stage, as the crowd chanted "let them play". The crowd's chant served as a count in for the next song. The PA was ours. It wasn't theirs to take. That didnt' stop the campus paper from trying to make us look like fools. The band spawned three descendent bands: The Eyesores, which was Ruk's old band the Sick Diabetiks with Juice (now called Dogface) on guitar, deal. which was Ruk and Byloos jamming with unofficial 5th Vietnun Dan Smith and Bickel on vocals, then finally Gestapo Pussyranch, which was Nelson on drums. He later became the DJ with No Name, first on KSCU, then KOME, then finally Live 105. |
