Artist History
In 1986, five young men in Ateneo de Manila high school in Quezon City Philippines banded together with the sole purpose and honor of playing the theme from "Batman" and various odd surf guitar instrumental from the 60s. Getting their name from one of the rules in indenting a paragraph, SUBDIVISION OF THOUGHT became the band of their high school class, and were supported as the class' premier exportable talent to all university-wide variety shows. Although starting out as an instrumental unit, SOT quickly figured out no one would listen to them without a singer. Thus was drummer Lionel Valdellon tapped for vocal duties, prompting more than 1 person in the audience to go "Who the hellis singing? Ah! The drummer!"Pretty soon they started composing their own brand of eclectic, humorous love songs with wit and humor-- odes that were both raucous and vigorous as well as strangely sentimental. Too bad they had to split up a few months after the songs on this webpage were recorded, sometime in 1990. |
