Artist History
Jack was born in Perth Scotland and moved to Montreal Canada when he was three. His family was very musical and Casey can remember his dad blasting jazz fusion albums in the house when he was only five. His older brother turned him on to the french Canadian fusion group UZEB and soon Jack became addicted to their modern jazz style. Paul Brochu, Michel Cusson and Alain Caron of this super group played a most important role in Jack's development as a musician without affecting his own voice on his instrument. Jack started out on drums when he was nine and moved to guitar at fourteen and finally switched to bass at the age of seventeen. After moving back to Scotland in 95 he studied music at Perth College. Since then Jack has worked in many pop and jazz bands and now he is planning to start his own projects while keeping busy with session work. Having just moved to Glasgow Casey is open to any future opportunities to work within all types of musical environments. If you think you could be of any assistance please do not hesitate to contact Jack on 0141 560 0929. Jack now plays an Overwater 6 string bass and a Yamaha 5 string fretless. |

Press Reviews
DAVE'S DEMO LISTEN 17/03/2001(Perthshire Advitiser) Jack Casey: demo. RIGHT up front this demo's a little different from what we normally get. But there's good reason. Jack is a bass player who, as well as playing with respected club/covers band Mafia, is looking for live and session work. He's also keen to pull together his own work. The CD, package and info is first class-informative packagain, three nicely recorded trax, not to long etc - as it has to be for the kind of work Jack's after. The first two tracks are instrumentals which do a good job of show-casing Jack's technique and playing ability on four and five-string fretted and fretless basses. The first track is a funky slappy number while track two is mellower arpeggio-based piece with singing harmonics and lovely fretless slides aplenty. These tracks also demo Jack's writing and arranging skills - rather than falling into the trap of mindless technical widdling and show-off licks, they subtly show class and ability...and make for pretty pleasant listening in their own right. Track three shows that Jack can easily fit into a classic rock/pop lineup. It's a fully arranged song featuring vocals from Mafia's Dougie Martin and guest appearances from other musicians who contribute drums, guitar and sax. It's a bit MoR, but that doesn't detract from the fact that it's a good song and immaculately performed - not just by Jack, but by the whole lineup. Versatility and professionalism are the two words that sum up Jack's ability. On the strenght of this demo it appears he would be a valuable asset to anyone looking for a dependable studio player, a touring band member or, indeed, in his own band.
