Artist History
“The last couple years have treated the Handheld Aspects (H2A) Crew very well. A modest demo release entitled No One's Listening in 2001 and a heavy sleeper in Losaka's Duck the Norm in 2002 solidified H2A's spot on the hip hop map-- now all they need is a statement album. With From Point A to H scheduled for a February release, their lead single "Sing Sing" not only reveals their progression from the bedroom production aesthetic to a much more polished sound, but that they may very well be ready to infiltrate hip hop on a much larger scale.” - Maru - Hip Hop Infinity - February 2003
In over 20 years of existence, hip-hop has influenced more than one generation of society. As the ever-going evolution continues, new branches of categories stem from the origin and essence of its foundation. As lifelong hip-hop fanatics and close friends, the Hand Held Aspects would like to offer their own creative contributions and pay homage to the roots of the art-form.
The Hand Held Aspects are an independent hip hop group comprised of four members hailing out of Ossining, NY, a small town located thirty minutes from NYC. Eibol, Hippo, Losaka, and Stayinsane, began collaborating on their own demo level projects in 1997.
In 1998, their first original DIY demo level EP was released, entitled Disturbed Dirt. The crew independently distributed the album to friends and fans in their hometown, and successfully sold 200 units. Their fanbase began to grow from their hand-to-hand/word-of-mouth efforts outside of their own community where it originally all began. Therefore, the name Hand Held Aspects alone reflects the do it yourself ethic of the group as a whole, from the birth of an idea to the final recorded product. They place a strong emphasis on incorporating their own experiences and thoughts while still keeping their audience’s heads nodding, and always having fun with it. With this in mind, they continued to maintain this attitude with the release of No One’s Listening in 2001.
No One’s Listening received rave reviews from their newly found followers as well as their existing fanbase. This was a promising follow-up demo to their previous release. They began performing songs at local venues along the northeast coast in addition to spending hours recording their first professional release on their own independently owned Fingerprint Records.
By February of 2003, the Hand Held Aspects had completed this release, From Point A to H. The progression of this 17 track (70+ minute) full length LP was immeasurable from their previous efforts. The underlying theme of the album consists of movement from day one to where the group stands now. The crew has successfully sold approximately 500 copies to date since it’s release in March of 2003. The album has become very popular amongst the underground circuit and the fleets of audiences that come out to see them each and every show.

“Simplicity is often misunderstood, frequently misapplied, and therefore largely unappreciated in hip hop’s modern climate... I know that simple rhymes and beats what the art form is founded on, and can still be a formula for causing the kind of head nodding enjoyment that made most people hip hop fans to begin with... Hand Held Aspects seem to know that well, and they prove themselves pretty competent at putting that knowledge into practice...” El-Keter - Hip Hop Infinity - August 2001
