Artist History
Brazil '99 began in 1999 in the DC area as Bruce Ellis (guitars), Rob Orwin (horns), and Claude Bettes (vocals), just sitting around Claude'sliving room playing for fun. Claude was from Panama and knew every Brazilian song every written. Hiswife Carmen also sang, and knew the recipe for every South American dessert! Unfortunately, Claude and Carmen moved back to Panama, but Bruce and Rob were "hooked." They kept on working up instrumentals, with the helpof sequenced backing tracks arranged by Rob. They soonstarted playing clubs and coffeebars in the DC areawith a potpourri of singers and musicians. Dete heard them in a coffeebar and joined up in November, 2000. |
