Artist History
Founded in September of 2000 Uproar is based in Wichita, Kansas where brothers Isaac and Kerry Burrow, lead vocals/guitar and drums respectively, enlisted the talents of friends John farthing, guitar, and Andy Douty, bass, to complete the line up. The band's sound is a fusion of the members eclectic musical influences; ranging from hard-core, metal, jazz, r&b, classical, reggae, and folk. However, Uproar still falls squarely in the "hard rock" genre, while maintaining clever melodies and insightful lyrics.
The establishment of Uproar in the local and national music scene is one of the groups main goals, yet as Christian musicians, Uproar’s top priority is creating quality music that glorifies their God, Jesus Christ. Uproar’s first live show was a local battle of the bands in November of 2000. The band walked away with first place. Uproar has met that same positive response playing with acts such as EastWest, Sisterpete, SeventhdaySlumber, Rain on the Land and Uplifted among other national touring bands in different and diverse venues; Mars Hill Coffee shop, The Wichita Foundry, the Lee Shinny Art Gallery and the Mustard Tree, the Argonia Riverfest, Unity through Diversity, on the WSU Campus, and some church shows.
In the past two years Uproar has worked at honing their sound and perfecting their writing ability. Their latest demo, recorded in the fall of 2001, rose to the top ten in metal/alternative on the indie internet music chart Mpulse.com within the first two weeks of being uploaded. “Induce” made #1 Metal song and “Some Dreams” pulled the same honor on the alternative chart. All three songs have maintained in the top 20. Uproar has made a name for them selves through innovative intelligent rock with lyrics that address topics of spirituality and friendship, countering the barrage of hopelessness that faces their generation.
