Press Reviews
"Doesn’t it make you happy when you first come across a band that sounds especially great to you? That’s what happened to me when I stumbled onto The Great Fiction. Coming seemingly from out of nowhere and into the Detroit scene, this group will more than appeal to fans of the moody sounds of Travis and the spacey rock of bands like Comet. The mixture of slow, thick guitar textures, full bass and tight drum patterns (with a touch of keyboard) makes for a wall of sound that carries the listener on a breezy ride. The melodies are smooth enough to make you either sway with the groove or just close your eyes and listen, and singer Dan Zott’s breathy, passionate voice pushes through and sings of a time beyond its years. Radiohead comparisons are inevitable, but in this case, it’s quite enjoyable and not overbearing. A very fresh release to hear in town, and even more exciting because it’s their full-length debut."
Reason to Buy: You won't hear another band like this in town
