Artist description
Slackshop combines alt/folk/pop and rock with a sound akin to early REM and CCR with Beatle-esque musical arrangements. The lyrics are meandering Dylan-like but with a more singable vocal style like u2 meets the Kinks. |

Artist History
The band slackshop got it's start playing in pubs in Louisville, one of the toughest towns to play in. Ask Jimmy Page. He got hit in the head with a whisky bottle when ZEP came here in the 70's. The band recorded an EP and then a full length release on microdot recordings called "faint praise and happy accidents". The "fpha" release did really well on A3 radio, 35 stations from coast to coast. With that success lots of people around the country got exposed to the music. The band has just released their next album entitled "Rated Yes". |

Press Reviews
"slackshop take powerfull songs and give them musical twists and turns that'll keep listeners at attention." John Schoenberger / Album Network "...aligned to the slippery folk-funk of Ray Davies and Jerry Garcia, but the soul of this album is it's gorgeous appreciation of sound." T.E. Lyons / LEO "His tunes ride that delicate balance, both musically and lyrically, between sharp and meandering, heavily punctuated and stream-of-consciousness." Sarah Meadows/ the Santa Fe Reporter of Bartley's Songwriting "The free wheeling slackshop mix up clean guitar chimings and swirling noise effects. The vocals go from flat and naisaly to soaring notes that end with keen yelps sort of like Dylan meets Bono." riffage "...music full of rich tones, caliper accurate rhythms, wailing chants and sensual whispers."
