Artist description
The Name “Chromosome 180” is a name that was coined by the bands Guitarist, Pat Deeb. The actual chromosome number 180 is fictional…it has to be, being that human beings only have 46 chromosomes. The number 180 represents a 180-degree turn…basically, turning around and walking away. Having the 180 chromosome would mean a person could easily turn around and walk away from something. With the idea that we are born with the chromosomes we have, if one possesses Chromosome 180, he/she has been born with the ability to not give a rat’s ass! If a guy has the Chromosome 180 and his girlfriend cheats on him or something, he has the natural born ability to laugh and say, “Bye” and never think of her again. |

Artist History
The History Chromosome 180 was started in the summer of 1996 in St. Petersburg, Florida by Andrew Licht, Ben Weise, Pat Deeb, and Mike Deeb. Playing out was an on and off thing as Mike and Pat were in college in New Orleans at Loyola, Ben was at University of Florida, and Andy was in St. Pete. In the periods where the members were in their separate places, Mike and Pat spent time duplicating and handing out demos to as many people in New Orleans as possible…it was mostly at Loyola. Andy and Ben were busy spreading the word in Florida. Most of what happened, as far as shows, happened in the summertime and during December Break. Summertime was the biggest time for shows. The continually motivating factor however, was that every time the band got back together they were better. There were always new songs to add too. The four began by playing cover songs in the little back room of a local pizza joint…it was everything from Bush and Stone Temple Pilots, to Pantera, and even No Doubt. They enjoyed the luxuries of minimal PA equipment, a four-person audience, and a large beer bill. Life was great back in the day. As time went on, more and more originals were written, more shows at more venues have been played, and today, Chromosome 180 has a powerful and unique sound that sits between alternative rock and aggressive hard rock. Some have described it as, “Alternative, but heavier.” The most interesting part about their music is that it has caught the attention of everyone who has listened to it, whether they are fans of Rock, Rap, Country, Jazz, or Blues. It definitely targets a younger kind of generation, but older crowds have also had good things to say. The Band was on a hiatus for a while when Mike and Ben were finishing college, but in late November 1999, they completed an 8-song studio EP to have for release at what came to be a very successful show, which was December 18, 1999 at The Brass Mug in Tampa, FL. The guys are now in New Orleans working hard on the scene building a following with hopes to continue spreading the word and the music around the nation. With high aspirations to take the project worldwide, Chromosome 180 are always looking for new people to meet and a new stage to rock! |
