Artist History
Tavern of One was started in late 1998 by Phil and Eric. We played gigs by ourselves while we searched for a drummer and a bassist. Brandon and Randall filled that bill perfectly. Brandon came along playing harmonica first and gradually was shuffled to bass, that being the position to be filled. Brandon told us about Randall being a badass drummer and we gave him a shot. We practiced together as a full band for the first time on March 16th, 2001, and by the end of practice, we knew that there was something special going on. We learned a lot of covers and stuff and played some gigs here and there, meanwhile, Phil was writing all these really awesome songs and stuff and we cut a demo doing 6 songs, Groove Freak, She's High, Love Me Down, All I Ever, Her Song, Feel, all this was on the 23rd and 24th of June, 2001. Also, while cutting this demo we got our first major gig at the Omni New Daisy in Memphis Tn., thanks to our new best friend Matt Carnes, who produced and mixed all our stuff and played keys on "Her Song" for us. I think I speak for the whole band when I say he's the newest Tavern of One family member. Thanks Matt! |
