Artist History
Growing up in the foothills of North Carolina, Seven Harkey swished with country music, gargled with pop, and spit southern rock. Greyhounding our to San Francisco during the early-Nineties Alt-Country surge, he found a bed for his voice by co-founding Farmgirl, a bar band's bar band best described as Garage Country Pop. Naturally, after developing a loyal and heavily drinking fanbase, they broke up. Seven dealt with the loss by hooking up with drummer Michael Israel and forming the Lomaxes--a beat and acoustic rhythm-driven quartet lightly sweetened with accordian and distortion--in short, Powerfolk. But critical acclaim didn't sooth Seven's hunger for a change of atmosphere, so he headed east for Chicago, where he took a break from music to work on a collection of short stories. But music crept back in, and Seven has returned to the studio with Israel and other tri-coastal musicians capture his unique guitar-playing and word-singing. Get ready to sing along. |
