    Artist History
The Beginning:The idea of creating something different, interesting and unique was the main motivation for the creation of this band. To be able to express ideas, feelings and experiences in the language, which the band members felt more comfortable, was one of the key ingredients for the success of the band, making them one of the most original bands in Orlando. Performing their material with all Spanish lyrics and sharing the stage with bands of diverse styles in front of mainly non-Spanish speaking audiences, Parafanelia dedicated themselves to cultivate a little of their culture in a territory where the opportunities and possibilities to grow as a Latin artist, were limited and not very attractive. The Brief History:In 1993 Garcia, already living in Orlando, Florida; decides to start writing material in Spanish and he contacts his friend Aponte, which he had collaborated with in the past. After recording a five-song demo, the search for musicians began. Dennis Lessard became the guitar player in 1994 and joined creative forces to help develop the identity of the band. In the next four years a machine took the role of a drummer since after auditioning various drummers, they did not find what they were looking for. In 1997 they recorded their first CD. In 1998, Bartolomei joined the band. A year later they released their first full length CD and Rivera became the percussionist of the band. In July 2000, Mayoral replaced Lessard as the guitar player. In February of 2001 Rivera became the drummer, while a good friend of the band, George “Ito” Colón joined the band as the new percussionist. In March 2001 the band signed a management deal with John Tovar (Marilyn Manson, Nuclear Valdez) and his company Bohemian Management.Events and Awards: Parafanelia had the opportunity to share the stage with bands like, “Los Fabulosos Cadillacs”, “Paralamas”, “Fiel A La Vega”, and others, in front of sold out crowds at venues like the House of Blues and Hard Rock Live. They were invited to be part of showcases put together by ASCAP in New York and Miami, to help promote Latin music in the United States. Nominated for an ASCAP Award for Best Independent Band in the U.S.; chosen by Orlando Magazine as one of the 1999 ground breaking bands in Central Florida, winners of the 1999 Orlando Music Award for Best Spanish Rock Band, and nominated again in 2000 with four other non-Spanish bands for Best Rock Performance.
