Artist History
MilkmanDaddy never came together in the traditional way most bands do. Instead, MMD started out as a creation of Independence natives, Tim Covey and Pat Higbee, in the mid 1980's. These two beatniks had a fond appreciation of fine rock-n-roll, and with it, the urge to make some fine R-n-R of their own. Tim was the singer-songwriter/rhythm guitarist, while Pat pounded the beat on the drums. In the early, high-school years, Tim and Pat honed their skills in the basement of Tim's parents's home. Tim used cheap, Lotus guitars, and Pat practiced with pots and pans as part of his drumkit. Perhaps these early days are the source of their uncanny, telepathic musical connection. Either way, the years of Tim and Pat playing and performing together clearly show, and continues to evolve. Cut to 1995. Rick Hearron joins MMD as the bass player. Rick is another North Independence refugee, and knew Tim, through their day jobs as UPS drivers. Rick has had some success as a musician since the 1980's, with the band Flight (87 to 89),the heavy metal band, Kings Ransom(89 to 93). Since then, he has played bass/drums with a variety of bands (Sutcliffe Stew,John Sparks Millenium,RoadMasters). In addition to playing bass, Rick is responsible for the recording and engineering of MMD's studio work. Over the years, MMD have seen their share of lead guitarists. Think Spinal Tap; instead of the "exploding" drummers, try "nomadic" lead guitarists. Fortunately, the gang have had an incredible knack for hooking on talented axmen. For "The Best I Never Had "CD, they have been joined on lead guitar by long time friends Mike Mader(Rockaholics,Hard Drive) R J Walker (Ugly Brothers),and Andy Oxman (Medicine Men,Function 4,Chuck Eddie Band,Matt and Robin,HooDooMan Band, and Beth Cook).MMD is proud to announce the addition of Andy to the band....... |
