Press Reviews
Could it be that we have found some Israelis that are more content reaching people than fighting? We tend to believe so, since this track definitely comes with a message. It could be the Middle East influence, the ominous sounds that propose the gates of hell swing wide and they claim Jihad!, or it could simply be the tender mercies played sweet songs into the ears of Gye Nyame, at which point Gye Nyame responded with a resounding "Yes! We get it!" Let the teeming listeners be aware, that we have already given out the most coveted, yet highly disregarded Land of Phrygia's "Coolest Shit We Have Seen In A Week" Prize out to the beautiful Anji Bee, but we will reserve the next week for these people, because this is truly genuine music, spelled out in many colors. Let's recap: When there was sound, man was moved. When man was moved, he moved to to emulate that sound. the sound of a mother's heartbeat, for instance, it usually instantly quiets an infant. The embryonic state is ALWAYS subjected to the rhythm of the mother, until birth. The shock from leaving that place, well, we don't dare imagine, that's why we can't remember being born - some say. Now, if the beat of rhythmic music is so close to the heartbeat of a docile human being, that human being seems to find a quick affinity with that music. Case in point: Muslim gauze, Crash Worship ADRV, Dead Can Dance... all these artists are purists when it comes to utilizing the inherent qualities within drum work and the effect it has on the human psyche and motor functions. Gye Nyame fall into that same category with this cross-cultural gem that will most likely cause the majority of teeming listeners to gawk in it's simple beauty. Highly manipulated looping drums patterns and freeform analog and acoustic improvisations play host to a sweltering mixture of sonic delights ala Paul Schütze. Most highly recommended, as per the Land of Phrygia Acoustic Phenomena Advisory Board. |
