Artist History
Gina began her musical career singing back up with the Austrian band "Cash and Powder" in Salzburg, Austria in 1990. Influenced by female Jazz singers like Billie Holiday and Sarah Vaughan, she learned many of the standards. She played with a swing band called the "Playboys" in Philadelphia for a while until she began to write and perform songs of her own. In 1998 she made her solo debut performing original songs at the Grape Street Pub in Manayunk, PA. Since then she has been perfecting her craft by performing at area venues. She performed in the 2000 Philadelphia Music Conference as guest vocalist/keyboardist with the band "One Cat Left" and in 2001 she showcased with a solo performance. Currently, she is recording her debut CD. Venues where she has performed include the Tin Angel, the Grape Street Pub and the Fire in Philadelphia, the Point in Bryn Mawr, PA, the sun Music Company in New York City and the Arts House in Newark, DE. She performed at the 2001 WXPN/Newton Colony Arts Bank festival and the 2001 AIDSWALK PHILLY. She hosts and performs at a monthly songwriter's showcase at the Philadelphia Cathedral Chapel on the University of Pennsylvania campus. |
