    Artist description
This band brings punk, alternative, and psychedelic styles together in perfect proportion for it's own unique style. It's something you definitely won't want to miss. Awesome rhythms mixed with trippy effects topped with awesome lyrics. So be sure to check out FTN. Since then this band has parted ways... The Guitar and Bass players have moved on to form "Charlie Don't Surf" which can be found on IUMA.com. FTN is now a thing of the past. However... Being that I was the bass player I am still going to upload songs from our archived recordings onto this website due to the fact that there are countless tapes that were never played for the public. So keep on checking back so that what once was will still live on. heh.. Who knows maybe one day FTN will reform for the hell of it.

    Artist History
The name FTN (Fight The Nucleus) has been around for some time. Originally started by Frank Reber (bassist for FTN). The band originally started with Frank Reber, Matt Foster, and Cory Reffitt. That didn't last long. Matt decided to part ways temporarily and Cory decided to step up to guitar and Joey Cooper decided to sit in on drums for like 1 session. This ended quickly. We changed the name of the band numerous times from names like SellaFane, Thrust, and Demoralize until eventually we settled with Fight the Nucleus after an episode in cory's backyard involving a pool. Eventually Matt came back for a few more sessions that stretched out for a few weeks and we wrote the songs Turbulence and Demoralize under the name of SellaFane. Soon after the band totally broke up and I, Frank Reber, decided it would be best to look around for other projects. I met Bryan Ayers, a very talented drummer, and asked him if he would be interested in playing and he agreed. After I spoke to Matt about obtaining a new drummer he came back to see what we could do. We played blink 182 cover and whatnot for a while but than that came to an end also. It was this time when I almost gave up but decided to find a new guitar player.. This is how I met Josh Vance, a very talented guitar player with a different outlook on things. This proved to be just what we needed. We maintained this setup for almost 2 years. For a good part of the time we were playing everyday for hours on end. We were in the wrong place at the wrong time however. Too many people cared too much about pop music and catchy lyrics to pay us any real attention and we were brushed off as wasted talent. This was very far from the truth. However eventually all the negative energy spread among us and Bryan decided he didn't want to play in the collective anymore and wanted to concentrate on other things. Weeks went buy trying to find a replacement with no avail. We ended up moving out of bryan's bedroom and back to my parents basement for a while and Bryan still sat in with us occassionally. Eventually it was too loud there and we decided to move out to Josh's Brother Kevin's house for recording purposes being that he had the technology and know how more than any of us at the time. We packed up and headed to the farm. Out there it was a combination of conflicting schedules and interests that led to the permanent leave of Bryan from the group and the end of FTN. After having that powerfull of a trio we decided not to continue the name with any other person other than Josh, Bryan, and Myself. Whenever we three make music it will always be FTN... Anyways, after Bryan's leave we were still at a delimma on what to do next, and by no means whatever were we to stop making music. We took on Josh's Brother Kevin as a full time drummer being that it was that convenient and he showed ample interest in the process of playing. We then decided to go by the name "Charlie Don't Surf" and that is where you will find more information. But as I said... For now FTN is no more.. I'm not saying there won't ever be again.. but it's definitely on indefinite hold until future notice. But please enjoy the collective works of FTN files on the site. and check out charlie don't surf if you get the chance on www.IUMA.com
