Artist description
Mumonkan ("Moo-mon-khan") are a Melbourne-based four-piece electronic band, pumping out an infectious groove to make you ‘shake-your-rumpa’.The Mumonkan sound is a fusion of hip-hop, breakbeat, funk, rock and techno and is quickly becoming “a winner for rock pigs and disco ducks alike” (Inpress Magazine). If you haven’t yet caught Mumonkan’s live-show or heard their music on CD, then try to imagine the Chemical Brothers and the Beastie Boys collaborating on a remix of Rage Against the Machine... .and you’d be half-way there.Mumonkan is committed to the live performance of electronic music as an accessible and stimulating experience. They achieve this by keeping a high standard of electronic sounds while maintaining the integrity of being a live band, without the restriction of backing or sequencing. Mumonkan have honed their live performance skills into a tight, fat, funky, danceable live-set of controlled mayhem. |

Artist History
With a swag of new tracks and a dynamic live-set ready to rock, the initiative was taken to establish what has now become Mumonkan’s regular and infamous breakbeat night, Mu, at Club UK, Melbourne. Organising and promoting the night themselves, the Mu breakbeat parties have been packed to capacity since opening and not surprising with "Rolling Stone" (Aust) magazine calling it the place to be in Melbourne and the cream of Australia’s Breakbeat DJ’s, dropping by to spin tunes.
