Artist History
Something different. That's what people have come to expect from Matthew Ebel, not only in his personality but in his music. He's been called a storyteller, an intellectual, and a laid-back rock artist. With experience ranging from metal bands to worship to Nashville's Grand Ole Opry, his music runs the gamut from soft ballad to hard-edged rock while maintaining his unique Matthew Ebel style.

Born in the Pacific Northwest, Matthew Ebel has spent all of his life singing and playing the piano. Starting off with fifteen years of piano lessons, six years of private voice, and over a decade of choirs and bands, he began his serious music career at Whitworth College. Though an obscure little private school in Spokane, WA, Whitworth is hailed as one of the nation's best music schools. After earning his B.A. with honors in Music, Matthew spent an extra year building up a reputation in the Inland Northwest as an up-and-coming new artist.

For a year after graduating from college Matthew became the lead singer/lyricist for Spokane rock group Threshold. Though they recorded an album together and gained local recognition, opportunities for Matthew's career were opening up elsewhere in the country. Now living in Nashville, TN, Matthew is pursuing a career as a solo artist. So far he's played with locals Jon Stone, Second Generation of Blue, and The Peter Moon Band, not to mention Mercury Records artist Billy Currington.

Everyone who knows Matthew personally, from friends to classmates to colleagues, has heard him singing everywhere he goes. "It's not something I do consciously anymore," says Matthew, "I'm just always singing even when I'm walking down the street. It's like I have my own personal soundtrack that only I can hear." That kind of constant musical mentality is what fuels his drive. So far he has successfully released two solo independent albums, Life's Been Good and Filling The Pages, and is currently writing material for a third solo release. |
