Artist description
Motivated by a desire to share the intimacies of the human condition, singer and songwriter Ko-Shin is a modern day mystic. "Words are thoughts, and they have their power. They can heal, they can inspire, or they can destroy. Words can give birth to new t houghts. I am a lover of language and a lover of song, and when the two come together, harmony is born. I want to share my visions and realizations with other people; my songs become their solace."
Born in New York, Ko-Shin started playing the piano by ear as a little girl, and claims to have been singing in the womb. She spent her childhood and teenage years acting, dancing, singing, and writing songs. After a period of intensive study at The Williamstown Theatre Festival, NYU, and Circle in The Square Theatre School, Ko-Shin moved out west to California to open up her world, and find her truth. "Not long ago, people went out west to become a pioneer, seeking a new world, and a new way of living. I wanted to know the unknowable, and to expand myself beyond who I thought I was, and what other people thought I should be."
Now, back in her hometown of New York City, Ko-Shin emerges with a beautiful collection of songs that speak of her journey from the descent into the unknown. She weaves a mystifying spell on her audience with her soaring voice, and haunting piano stylings, leading her listeners into worlds both familiar yet otherworldly, aware of the sacredness of everyday life.
