TEXAS BORN SINGER SONGWRITER DAN CHAVERS MOVED TO OREGON AT THE AGE OF SIX AND GREW UP IN THE PORTLAND AREA. HE HAS CALLED CENTRAL OREGON HIS HOME SINCE 1969.A PUBLISHED POET, CHAVERS TURNED TO SONG WRITING IN THE SEVENTIES WITH HIS EARLY INFLUENCES BEING JOHN PRINE, KRIS KRISTOFFERSON, GUY CLARK AND WILLIE NELSON.AN ACTIVE MEMBER IN THE CENTRAL OREGON SONG WRITERS ASSOCIATION, DAN WAS HONORED WITH FOUR SONG OF THE MONTH AWARDS IN 1998 AND WROTE THE C.O.S.A. 1999 FOLK SONG OF THE YEAR, "JUST ACROSS THE RIVER, UP AROUND THE BEND". DAN IS A REGULAR PERFORMER ON THE LOCAL MUSIC SCENE PRESENTING A QUIET BLEND OF OLD FAVORITE AND ORIGINAL TUNES.
