Artist History
Alex MacDougall is steeped in the kind of musical history and experience that few can claim. Displaying an innate musical sensibility at an early age, his love of music, particularly drumming, was nurtured by a musical family environment. With the help of 15 year old brother Peter, a great drummer, Alex was drumming by age 5. And with an affinity for bigband swing, and an eclectic mix of rock and pop music, he started down a life path where making music would be the soul purpose, and chosen profession. At thousands of events from 1985 through 2000, Alex, supported by a cast of various worldclass musicians, delighted listeners including; the Clintons, Prince Andrew, Walter Cronkite, and countless newlyweds among them. During the latter half of the nineties, after several years of performing covers with his band,'Undercover,' Alex began to write; something he had done only sporadically since the mid 80's. Alex's compositions, as well as collaborations with pianist Sonny Barbato of New York, have been featured in the independent film, 'Urban Relics,' and on daytime soaps, 'The Young and the Restless,' and 'Passions.' In 2000, the decision was made to move west to further his career as a performer, and composer. In the winter of 2001, Alex set out for Southern California, with a vibrant demo created with Anthony J. Resta, who's resume includes work with Elton John, Duran Duran, Collective Soul, and Shawn Mullins. Alex is now poised to create music that incorporates spirituality, humor, and the richness of a diverse musical background. |
