    Artist description
The WANTON DYNAMOS are shakin’ the rafters, blowin’ down the walls, and bustin’ the doors locally. Their original music is powerful and dynamic, yet rooted in the classic performance tradition of rock ‘n’ roll’s greatest performers. They have both studio artistry, and rockin’ live shows. They’re a Southern band who can cover Pink Floyd songs better than….well, …Pink Floyd! The band is the same age as the BEATLES when they played their Hamburg, Germany gigs….They know and respect their musical roots, but are not constrained by them, they are the only local band that has opened for acts as diverse as Neve and William Bell. The Dynamos were entered in the 43rd Annual GRAMMY Awards for "Best New Artist" and "Best Rock Album". And Terry Montford's production again earned him a slot on the GRAMMY ballot for "Producer of the Year."

Nathaniel Luttrell provides the guitar pyrotechnics and lead vocals. Paul Horne owns the pocket on drums, while Jake Williams displays awesome bass work hinting of his symphony experience. If you're lucky, you might catch a show where he lays down the bottom end with his electric upright bass. And sneaking in from Berlin, Germany, Timo Reinke blows the baritone and alto sax in his unique "polka-rock" style! The Wanton Dynamos

    Press Reviews
(From: MetroMania, Feb. 2001)CD Review: “Paper Cut”, WANTON DYNAMOS, ASP RecordsBy: David “Plasmaboy” Castle, WAWL, 91.5 FM, Chattanooga, TNThe psychedelic rock of the sixties are alive and flowing through the Wanton Dynamos. This is evident in their debut CD, Paper Cut. With all of the band members being 21 or younger, the recording is full of impressive songwriting and instrumentalists. It would even take bands like Cream and Led Zeppelin by surprise. Since the two previously mentioned bands have influenced the Dynamos, this retro band blends those influences with their own unique sound. The songs of the Wanton Dynamos are heavily guitar driven, and rhythm guitarist, Jeremy Sherrill, and lead guitarist, Nathaniel Luttrell, compliment each other nicely. With the combination of riffs, rhythms, and solos, they are a lethal pair. I can honestly say that I haven’t heard guitar playing like this in a very long time, and I must say it is a breath of fresh air. Not-to-be-out-done bass player, Jake Williams, and drummer Paul Horne do a wonderful job as the backbone and foundation of the band. Timo Reinke, the album’s sax player, adds an element of panache to varying songs on the album. Many tracks would lack their soul without his contribution. For instance, Reinke uses the baritone sax in the title track, Paper Cut, to accompany the bass guitar in its dark, brooding rhythm. And although the guitar chords and vocals of Lutrell make Devastation a melancholy song, Reinke’s wavering sax comes through to enhance the track’s mood. One cannot help but notice a bit of Pink Floyd in the slow, melodic roll of this song. Another one of the Dynamo’s influences can be heard in their track Where Things Went Wrong. This Zeppelinish tune with its heavy slide guitar resembles the stylings of Jimmy Paige. The song also takes some daring steps like Led Zeppelin when the lead guitarist abruptly stops during his solo. He begins the solo with his skills on the Wah-Wah pedal, the whole bands then stops, and the guitarist leads the Dynamos into the beginning chords of the song once again. This same boldness shines through in the album’s Just Think Back where the solo starts with an acoustic guitar and jumps seamlessly to the electric guitar. The Wanton Dynamos’ sound may resemble the greats of the generations past and that could be contributed to the use of vintage guitars and amps. In this particular recording, the band borrowed a 1962 stratocaster and a 1960’s Les Paul to give their sound that classic feel. And to add that extra vintage touch, the band even performs a song that was written thirty years ago by, Ron Williams, the band’s manager. Son of Psilocybin is one of my favorites reminding me of the musical style of Jimi Hendrix. The recording is about the mind-altering experience of drugs. It has the same trance-like repetition that Hendrix would have incorporated in his songs to make the listener feel he is having the same trip.Even though the Wanton Dynamos can be compared to bands such as LedZeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Cream, they are not just another rip-off of the 60’s. They have a unique sound that is seldom heard in today’s rock/rap movement. Catch their live show to see these songs brought to life.
