Press Reviews
"That's fucking SICK!" Lord Wrath, Kathonik
"Splinters of Death may not be good to the ear, but they are definitely cool!" -- Nicklas Magnusson, Prophanity/Dragonland/The Rapture
"Since the demise of the the Nun Fucking Supreme Pagan Tormentor, the band ran by Nun Fucker and Chicken, his guitarist & gay lover, the world of TRUE black metal has been empty. Many bands claim to carry the true name, but none did it better than Nun Fucker. That is, until Lord Catullus came along. Splinters of Death, the new name in TRUE black metal, made its first appearance in 1999 with their demo "A Cold Day In Hell". This demo was so necro, so true, it was regarded as practically unlistenable because of its trueness, making bands like VON, Blasphemy, and Beherit sound like MTV pop music. In 2000, Lord Catullus followed up with the EP "The Blasphemous Order of the Inverted Ankh". Completely out of control and inhuman, Lord Catullus shows that he can dominate his project on his own as he does all instrument works (his previous demo had some help if you can believe that). Taking the sound of true black metal and making it even more inhumanly dark, its like literally being given nitric acid enemas over and over while listening to Abruptum (who supposedly tortured himself to make the music). Even IT could learn something here from Lord Catullus! The "music" does not get any truer. Or could it? Now Lord Catullus has teams with the mysterious Ghost «In The Machine» and has even been signed to a record deal with Chastorm Records (who plans to also release the back catalogue). "Burning The Church" is the new EP from Splinters of Death and it picks up where "Blasphemous Order..." left off. Not by progressing, but by the exact same formula that makes Splinters of Death the absolute truest of the true black metal bands in the world today. And he does it all without a drummer! And his previous drums were pots and pans (true!). If you have heard Splinters of Death, you know exactly what to expect. And we eagerly await the rumored live performance, Lord Catullus's contribution to Arkcoven, and "The 10th Name of Marduk" - hopefully the first full length album!
