Artist description
Paulo Lopes was born in Lisbon, Portugal, where he started playing the piano at the age of 6. At the age of 9 he was awarded a scholarship to the Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon to study music and the arts. He joined the Conservatoire Nacional de Lisboa at the age of 12 where he had piano tuition from Leonor Leităo-Cadette for several years. He then came to London to continue his studies in music and the arts. He has studied at the Guildhall School of Music and with the Spanish pianist Maria Garzón. In 1997 Paulo was admitted as Licentiate, Trinity College London. He has given various piano recitals and recently played at Hengrave Hall in aid of Amnesty International. Forthcoming recitals in 2002 will include amongst others a further recital for Amnesty International, a recital for Long Melford Music Society in Suffolk, recitals at the Welsh Centre and St. Peter’s Church in Hampstead, London, recitals in Bedarieux, France and in Uhituizen, Holland. Paulo also teaches the piano privately. |
