Artist History
After stumbling through several hired musicians, singer-songwriter T.J. Lanier decided he needed committed band members to embark on a musical journey with. Drummer Jay Corkran stayed on to make Lanier a lifestyle and Jeremy Vukelus, a Base player from Mesa, Arizona was found in a New Times ad to complete the rhythm section. Local Guitarist Johnny Balla agreed to continue performing with the band at venues such as Hard Rock Café, Long Wong's, Cajun House, Nita's Hideaway, and Collins in Flagstaff, until a permanent replacement was found. Before long Guitarist Josh Kennedy, a recent graduate of the Conservatory and a former native of Missouri answered an ad in a local music store. Kennedy was a perfect fit from the start so the band decided it was time to take a break from performing to complete their debut album. Lanier's freshman album entitled "Handful Of Change," was recorded at Mayberry Studios in Tempe, Arizona. Guitarist Josh Kennedy also doubled as the bands engineer. "Child," the first single off the self-produced album was released to radio in January of 2002 and has been receiving airplay on KZON 101.5 in Phoenix. With a completed unit in place and a loyal fan base the band gained from previous performances, Lanier hopes to build on the past success of their first EP "18." The single "Maybe Baby" also received local airplay on KZON 101.5 and was added to the play list of KJACK 1680 in Flagstaff. Lanier's debut album showcases both their growth as musicians and as a band. |
