Artist History
History of Jonny and the Super Villians Early 2000 the band was started with no name. The members struggled to get things going. Lead singers came and went as did drumers and other muscians. Founding memebers, Pete and Chris, tried to keep it together. Chris was busy with work and Pete was busy looking for a girl. They kicked out there original singer Phil cause he just wanted to get high then come to practice. They also kicked out other various members who were not takeing the band seriously. They finally doubled there efforts and brought in Carl Nehring as a temporary singer, and Bob Blasano on alto sax. Neither of who were very dependable in any respect. When school started in September, Pete and Chris were left with little to work with. Then Pete brought Matt to play bass. After talking to and getting to know Matt he found out he was lead singer in a punk band and asked him to fill the lead singer spot. They then brought in Brett on bass and Jay on alto sax. The band had a few practices and they molded together great. They had written many songs and were making progress. There was one problem though, Brett hadn't pulled thru on bass (he just plain sucked), so they replaced him with Matt's friend Mike. Next they brought in Zack on the drums from the FABULOUS Ska Punk band Premarital Sax in Rockville center, and its was magic! The band came together as a cohesive unit once again, and we're ready to write songs again! With the basic lineup down the band sought to broaden their sound, by expanding their horn section. Their first addition was Dave on trumpet, and chris moved entirely over to trombone giving the band a 3 piece horn section. After having written and recorded Angry Apes at runaway studios the band was going well... however this was not to be. Zack's parents got extremely angry one day and made him quit our band and 12 or so others he was in, because of his upcoming SATs, so we ended up loosing zack as our drummer. A couple months passed, and replacement drummers came and went, and still the band was struggling to get by, then out of nowhere, enter our hero, Chris G. From Luhi Comes in for a tryout on drums and blows everyone away! He is fuckin insane on drums! and a great bass player too! He saved JATSV from disolving! He rules! (oh and did i mention he rules?). We've been playing shows with him ever since! Also we added RJ on tenor sax. Hes pretty good, and that is the oddesy known as Jonny And The Super Villains. But then the summer came to a close. Chris Gannon was rumored to be somewhere between Long Island and Ohio for most of the summer but we didn't end up seeing him again until we opened for the toasters in late september, and he made his wishes clear that he wanted to concentrate on college. We will miss Chris, but the show must go on. Myself and Mike go to college now, Me at manhattan college and mike at hofstra. Since the begining of the year we have been commuting back and forth between school and the band, and have just finished our first ep, CHOCK FULL O'SKA: Naturally Untalented. Its available at shows, or through mailorder. Its WELL worth the $5. Helping us record and sort of joining the band are Chesco on drums, and Gino on... um... well Gino fills in on anything that needs to be filled, and on our ep he plays both bass and keyboard during Taxicab Confessions. Theyre cool guys, and hopefully they'll continue to stick around. Thats about all that i can think of at the moment, but im sure I'll update this again eventually. Thanks for reading. And now the time has come to update this page yet again. JATSV Broke up in early 2002. They were missed by many |
