Artist History
Released in 1997, their debut CD, "Into the Pink", thrust the band into the Philadelphia area spotlight. This included substantial airplay on powerhouse stations such as Y100, WYSP, and WXPN, regional airplay on college stations throughout PA, Delaware and New Jersey, along with interviews and video spins on "Philly TV's", UPN-57. Entering a series of national and local competitions, The Freakin' Cads were regional winners of the "Sam Goody Unvailed National Unsigned Band Competition," and one of four(out of 400) finalists in the Y100 Unsigned band competition. With their reputation growing as a MUST-SEE live act, spearheaded by the unpredictable magic of front man, Dooner Smith, the Cads soon found themselves sharing the stage with international acts like Smashmouth, The Offspring, Barenaked Ladies,Lit and Train, performing in the area's top venues like The E-Center(Y100 Feztival), The Trocadero, TLA, Brownies 23 East, The Chameleon Club, and the Trump Marina. |
