Artist description
One would have to think long and hard when asked to describe the music of PHAYZE. While some of their songs have a definate sort of nostalgic grunge edge to them (routine reject), there are others that boast softer and more melodic overtones to them (T.O.M.). PHAYZE is also not afraid to thrash things up and put out an all out assault on all things evil (SILENTLY). The band conforms to no set style, and instead have chosen to break barriers and play with their minds (and hearts) open. The band is constantly evolving, keeping strong to their roots while at the same time keeping open minds. PHAYZE also appreciates the value of playing covers as you can catch them playing a different cover at just about every single one of their shows. You can always expect something new and damn good from PhAyZe at every show they play.
Now enough with the words. Let PHAYZE really speak to you - musically that is. |

Artist History
BACKGROUND
The name, 'PhAyZe' is a very apt title for the band hailing from Vaughn, Ontario. Originally the word held no meaning. It was
simply a moniker that sounded cool to the then 14 year old Dan and Matt, the founding members of the band.
The band can now associate the name with the different phases they have gone
through since their inception back in 1999. Consider the fact that Matt and Dan are the only remaining original members in the band. 2 other guitarists, 3 other drummers, and for a short while, a vocalist, have all come and gone through
PHAYZE
The many Phases of PhAyZe
The band started humbly in November 1999, when Dan *bass* and Matt *guitar* got together and started playing covers by bands like Nirvana, Foo Fighters and Metallica. Dan and Matt began writing songs by themselves, before recruiting Rob Attard to join on lead guitar and eventually Dave C. on drums. This would come to be known as the second phase of the band, and the first time PHAYZE was a complete band . Quickly, though, Dave was removed due to not being commited to the common goal. he would eventually be replaced by Stefan. Carmine was
next to enter PHAYZE, replacing Rob on lead guitar. With his the arival of Carm and Stef, phase 3 was complete.
Phase three was in motion. This version of PhAyZe was more successful than the last, as they landed their first gig. It was at the first ever Kill Pop! Long Live Metal! show at the Opera House in Toronto. The band was quite ill prepared for the show, having only been together for 6 days prior to playing it and so they basically adlibbed an entire set. Mark was asked to join the band on vocals at around this time. He didn't last too long, being booted soon there after. The band remained dormant for a few months before Carm and Stef leave the band to start another one. Back to phase 1.
In April 2001, After 6 months of searching for members, Tom *from the band Fleshcrave* joins PhAyZe on drums. Before they could get past a few jam sesions however, Tom decided to leave PhAyZe in order to fully commit to Fleshcrave.
PHAYZE once again found themselves back to phase one. Quickly thereafter though, PHAYZE would solidify into what is now known as THE phase. With the additions of Andrew *drums* and Jer *guitar* PHAYZE would find a comfy groove in which to dwell. Everything seemed to be falling into place and the band wasted little time in getting things done. After being together for less then 8 weeks, the band felt comfortable enough to enter the studio to begin work on an as of yet unfinished and untitled E.P. 2 songs are currently finished and can be found on the band's website with 3 to 4 more songs on the way. Copies of the 2 completed songs were distributed in very limited quantities as free Promo Discs to much praise.
