Last House on the Left formed in January 1998 when Vanessa and Kathy met Joscelyn through an advertisement in a local music store. Which was placed there by a musically frustrated Vanessa. Since that date they have not stopped playing. Never had any other music tuition. Taught herself to play guitar 8 years ago, inspired by Kirk Hammett of Metallica. - wants everything yesterday - started singing out of frustration because Last House were unable to find a suitable singer. In primary school she played piano & viola (the school wouldn’t let her near a drum kit, which she wanted to play, because her ear for music was too good!!) Started playing drums at 12 and played in various bands from country to metal. Bands include; She had to stop playing drums because of tendonitis in her arm and took up bass playing (so she could wear out a different section of her arm) Started LHOTL to do the all chick rock thing in Jan 98. and auditioned female musicians. - completed 18 month certificate in SoundEngineering and School of Audio Engineering - works as a live and studio engineer - has done bass session work. Kathy - plays a Rogers Kit with Sabian Cymbals Kathy decided to take up drumming after seeing L7 live and thinking that it looked pretty easy (and she can hide behind them). She has been drumming since 1993 and has been taking lessons from Col Gillies all of that time.Kathy's had many positive comments about her drumming including comments from other well known Australian artists. Wants to be famous NOW!!!

    Press Reviews
31/12/2000 LATEST REVIEW LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT - (SELF TITLED) A truly remarkable ep from this 3 piece Queensland based group, whose music has to be heard to be believed. It always makes me wonder when I hear anything as Good as this why they haven't succeeded in a bigger way yet, but their prodigious live sets seem to be building the much needed vibe. Once a few more people catch the sound of this band's music though, the vibe will explode around them & the hype will build - of that I'm sure. There's not too many comparisons to be made here, but think the guitar sound of L7 & the great pop sounds of SPDFGH & you'll be somewhere close. There's little doubt as to the main highlight here for me, "Endless Charade" is class all the way, from the outstanding vocals & instrumentals, to the violin backing which really sets this apart. All other songs here are excellent too, from the rocking pop sounds of "Fade" & "Wasted", through to closer "Less Than Real", there's a lot to like here. Keep an ear out for this band - a great deal of promise already delivered. December 2000 hEARD Magazine www.ozemail.com.au/~hmag
