Artist History
Pure and simple, that is an apt description for the ministry of Cedric Scott (a.k.a. C.O.) and Derek Drew (a.k.a. Slack), the dynamic duo ofHoly Hip Hop who have been making strides of innovation and acceptance within both themainstream and Christian market place since their inception in 1986. The then trio, beganwhen AM stereo K-DAY, a 24-hour rap and R&B station on the West Coast, started a performingarts program to provide a positive outlet for inner-city youth. I.D.O.L. King soonopened the door for the then new genre of rap--Christian rap or Holy Hip Hop asit is now known and are considered by many of their peers as one of the firstexplicitly Christian rap crews in California,if not the world. The authenticity of I.D.O.L. King is characterized by their extremededication to the Bible and its infallibility.C.O. and Slack's biblical convictions and devotion to "holding the mystery of the faithwith a pure conscience" coupled with their ability to "speak the truth in love" provide the execution of a powerful yet loving ministry. |
