Artist History
All songs are written by rhythm guitarist Angie Jackson and singer Maggie Daly, who met in Chicago in 2000. Maggie (also an actor) had just finished an internship at Chicago’s renowned Goodman Theatre, and decided to throw a big party to celebrate. Angie was playing with a band in Michigan at the time, and was invited by a mutual friend to come to the party and jam out. The second she heard Maggie sing, she turned to her friend and said ‘that girl doesn’t know it yet, but I’m gonna get her to sing with me.’ They immediately hit it off and wrote 30 songs in 30 days, and Angie moved to Chicago in late 2000 to continue their work. Since then, they have compiled a variety of original songs with catchy, solid hooks that showcase their distinctly unique character. Jackson Daly has performed at various locations in Chicago and throughout the Midwest, including Uncommon Ground, Wise Fools Pub, Beat Kitchen and The Heartland Café. In addition, they have been introducing their audiences to a new type of venue, the House Concert. They have performed many House Concerts throughout the Midwest, gaining recognition for their intimate, yet energetic shows and gathering many fans along the way. In 2000, shortly after placing some of their songs on MP3.com, they were asked to be part of an MP3.com compilation CD. In May 2002, they were filmed as part of a documentary on Chicago musicians with Columbia College film graduates. In August 2003, they played their first Just Plain Folks Chicago chapter showcase, and were invited to play the next JPF Chicago showcase in September 2003 at Uncommon Ground. |
