Unconfined to any specific genre, Noland incorporates elements of alternative rock, ambient electronic, funk, jazz, dance, world-beat and country. Artist History
From 1977-1981, Bill Noland was affiliated with The Los Angeles Free Music Society (L.A.F.M.S.) and was a founding member of the alternative rock band, Human Hands where he played keyboards and co-produced and co-wrote the music and lyrics. From 1981-1983, Noland signed with I.R.S. Records as a member of alternative rock band, Wall Of Voodoo. Extensive touring followed, performing concerts in the United States, England and Canada, culminating in the 1983 US Festival, playing live for 130,000 people. There were numerous television appearances, including American Bandstand, performing Wall of Voodoo's hit song, "Mexican Radio." From 1983-1998, Noland worked with Stan Ridgway on a number of Ridgway albums including the I.R.S. Records release, "The Big Heat," where he played keyboards and co-produced the song "Salesman." For the Geffen Records release of Ridgway's "Partyball" album, Noland co-wrote the music and lyrics to "Harry Truman." He was co-producer, co-engineer and co-mixer for the Drywall albums, "Work the Dumb Oracle," and "The Drywall Incident Soundtrack." Bill Noland produced numerous Thin White Rope recordings, including "The Ruby Sea," "Spoor," "Where the Pyramid Meets the Eye," "A Tribute to Bob Dylan" and "Eye." He produced the Field Trip album, "Headgear" for Slash Records and has produced tracks for The Romans. Noland is currently pursuing a solo career writing, recording and producing music that incorporates disparate musical styles. |
