Artist description
Jangly, introspective Rickenbacker pop, upbeat, but with paradoxically sad and searching lyrics. The Dalloways combine hollow body guitar and vintage amplifier tones, bass and drums with wistful two-part harmonies to create an edgy, melodic style of rock. Stylistically, the band holds affinities with post punk artists such as The Smiths. The group's growing interest in introspection has begun to yield a quieter, more sentimental tone to the lyrics and progressions; yet the driving pop feel characteristic of the group's earlier tunes is often maintained, creating an interesting and sometimes paradoxical effect between the sentiments and the music that surrounds them. |
