Artist History
These pieces represent, music that is soon to be released on CD as “North Light” on a European jazz label for distribution worldwide. For contractual reasons I cannot post the actual final versions or takes that will be released later this year. The music selections here are slightly different versions but are close enough in feel and mood to represent the final product. They are all professionsl studio recordings, just different mixes or takes of the same pieces. Steven Kirby’s first CD “Point Of Balance” is available on the Challenge/ A-Records label at major record stores and internet outlets. |

Press Reviews
"Kirby’s dark, alluring tone and flowing melodicism lull the listener into a relaxed state ofafterglow. But beneath the soothing surface is an improviser of the highest order with a fertileimagination and an unbridled sense of rhythmic daring. Point Of Balance …is an entire album of beautiful, meaningful compositions that sound as refreshing and striking now as Pat Metheny’s Bright Size Life did 22 years ago. Kirby is one of the most promising new players and composers on the modern jazz scene today” – Bill Milkowski (Jazz Times) |
