Zion 2000 (1999)
Ewave 2000/zeNation From the very first song this disc hits you very hard and direct. Its style goes from chaotic to melodic, from extreme hardcore to mild classical piano, from alternative metal to rockabilly. At first listen my opinion was that it sounded like many differnet bands of the past and at the same time it sounded like nothing that I'd ever heard in my life. Some of my favorite tracks on this disc are -Zion 2000, Superchrist, Buford, and Halo while most of the other tracks were mildly amusing at best. Overall, the stronger tracks on Zion 2000 prevail, but my opinion of Zenkil remains in doubt because of the following reasons- The presskit, and other literature that I have on Zenkil seems to suggest an image and hype that is not represented in their music.Although this album makes a very strong case for Zenkil. The future of Zenkil may rest in their marketing scheme which seems to be misgu |
