Artist History
STINKSISTERS were founded in rotterdamn '93, played all over europe with frantic punkrock as a trio with singer/guitarist PEDO. From mid '95 Pedo left but CATI PROUT (drummer, chanteuse & francaise) and JEAN-FOUTRE (bassplayer & cati's husband) restarted the STINKSISTERS Story at zero with selfmade guitarist and singer MARIANNE and transvestite lesley-organplayer NIQUE. In 2 years a lot of people came and went, in '96 they performed as a 7-piece freakshow with violins, saxophone, flutes etc.
Now the Stinksisters are back to basic, like a 'normal' 4-piece band. But a really 'normal' band the Stinksisters will never be; They did completely flipped theatre projects like ' ALL PROSTITUTES' and 'DIE GROSSE STINKSISTERS WEIHNACHTEN SCHAU' with lots of guests, and last year they created a fullcolour fotostrip: 'A Fabulous Story With the Magnificent Stinksisters'.
In september '98 a first 7" single appeared on the french Zorlac label. |

Press Reviews
'THE MAGNIFUCKIN' DRAGS-QUEENS FROM ROTTERDAM'
BIERFRONT (D) '97
'Sordid, messy guitarrock from the Rotterdam School. Very varied and yet a coherent sound. Perfect songs, pretty dirty, and chaos perfectly relieved with popsongs. Recommanded for this month!'
OPSCENE (NL) about 'Hotdogs'
'Shit, piss, vomit and transvestie, welcome in the colorfull world of the STINKSISTERS.........rumbling as the Butthole Surfers in their rehearsal room........the bass player handles an axe instead of a plectrum, and there's more barking, howling, crying and panting then singing...On tape at least very strange, and Stinksisters on stage is too awful for words or a first class experience.'
FRET (NL) about 'HotDogs'
'One of the most original and maybe the most spectacular band from Rotterdam, the Stinks play pretty vulgar punky rock'n'roll and steal everything they find on their way.....People, go to see this, and get wild!....from noise till sweet melodies till total crazyness!'
X-TREEM (NL) about a Stinx concert in Rotterdam
'Freaked-out, noisy, anti-conformist, funny,...and all this in a pretty punky spirit. But comparing Stinksisters with any other band is like chinese puzzle...'
KILL ...WHAT? (FR) about 'What About The Pigs'.
'A bunch of completely twisted weirdo's who don't stop to make a mess, but don't count on me to stop them!'
ZIK ZINE (FR) about 'What About The Pigs'
'This issue's theme is soap, mostly soap opera's, done in comic form. The people who put out this seem to be seriously twisted, and i like it. There's an amazing pictorial story featuring the STINKSISTERS, which seems to have nothing to do with the rest of the issue, and quite defies decription. What a great zine! '
MAX R&R (US) about Stinx comic strip in Climax Magazine
'One of the greatest live sensations from Rotterdam!'
TOCADO (NL) about another Stinks concert in Rotterdamn |
