Artist History
Singer, rapper, and lyricist Kirsten Bolton brings considerable talent and enthusiasm to ShocRaDance.
Her ability to use her voice both in a more traditional singing style as well as a percussion instrument
adds a uniqueness to our sound that hasn’t been duplicated elsewhere.
Kirsten has a vast knowledge and interest in the area of transcendental metamorphous.
Drummer and lyricist Steve Wilson recently moved to Boulder, Colorado from Philadelphia
where he was the driving rhythm machine behind Taboo, a Philly based Jazz/Blues band.
He has been playing drums since age 12, and began playing at various jazz clubs and bars
around his home state of Ohio while other kids were still learning to drive!
Steve also provides a few vocals; singing or reciting his own very unusual poetic
concoctions to some of Shock-Ra’s original tunes.
His long term practice of yoga (along with the fact he has a Phd. and authored many articles on altered states
of consciousness) has also earned him the role of spiritual guide for the group.
Sax and keyboardist Jim Wilson not only began playing professionally at the tender age
of 15, but went on to pursue his interest in music by attending the Boston University
School of Fine and Applied Arts. At Boston University Jim studied music composition and
reed instruments & continues using and evolving his compositional skills by writing a
number of ShocRa’s compositions such as GOA Dream, Miles Millenium, and Fairy Wubba. |
