Artist History
Robby first began writing songs on the ukulele at age six, and performed for the first time at a small club in Stuttgart, Germany called "Forum 3.” He was performing in Berlin when the Wall came down and met Nicolai Lieven. Years later, they formed "Pearls At Swine," and were signed in 1996 by BMG. Wanting to create an environment in which he could express himself more freely, Robby broke away from Pearls at Swine in 1997 and started producing “SoulTube,” playing all the instruments: guitars, bass, drums, banjo, mandolin, sitar guitar, slide guitar, blues harp, keys, percussion and saw blade, and recording the tracks on his own analog 16 track. The result is stunning: a collection of extraordinarily moving, well-paced, visually evocative songs. Robby's CD, “SoulTube,” was nominated for a 1999 Boston Music Award for Outstanding Debut in the Contemporary Folk Album category. While working on SoulTube, Robby had his hands full writing songs for television and film with songs in projects starring Bette Midler, Christina Applegate, Danny DeVito and Jahnathon Schaech. Robby lives in an old train station in Housatonic, Mass. and is currently producing his first film entitled, "Hurrrl". |

Press Reviews
"SoulTube is a remarkable debut - a dark, haunting collection of original, acoustic soul music, as good as anything you're likely to find on a major label this or any year..." - Berkshire Eagle “Marked by strong hooks and a touching, personal delivery, Robby's music is driven by inspiration which, in turn, inspires the listener." - Boston Music Awards "...a tour-de-force. There is not a toss off in the bunch. 'SoulTube' is really a soul bomb. Dig the fallout." - Performing Songwriter |
