Dex has only released 1 solo album, Folk Songs, in his long career. Folk Songs (Perm004) was released in 1996 on Permanent Records to critical acclaim and features over 26 tracks of low-fi, greasy rockabilly - mostly recorded in his mother's bathroom and in various locations in Chapel Hill, NC. Since the Flat Duo Jets took some time off from each other (indefinitely) in April of 1999, Dex has begun work on future solo projects. Artist History
Dexter is the frontman (singer/songwriter/guitarist) for the legendary rockabilly band the Flat Duo Jets who, over the past decade and a half, have toured across the US (and Europe once)opening for such acts as The Cramps, Beck, Dick Dale, Rev. Horton Heat, Amazing Crowns, and Man or Astro-Man. The Flat Duo Jets released their 9th album in October of 1998, Lucky Eye, on Outpost Records (their 1st major label release). Lucky Eye was produced by Scott Litt (REM,Nirvana,Veruca Salt,Juliana Hatfield) and Chris Stamey (Let's Active,dB's,Whiskeytown) and takes the Flat Duo Jets sound to a whole new level. |
