Four-piece blues/funk/soul band based in Toronto, Canada. Original tunes showcase strong musicianship and mature lyrics. These are supplemented by a choice of covers unlike any other band. Chris Craig's inspired drumming infects the listener with the urge to move. Andrew Taylor's infectious bass lines round out the solid rhythm section. Josh Gordon's guitar solos turn many heads as he demonstrates what a fretboard is for. Add Faron's multi-faceted vocals and you've got a "can't-miss" mix guaranteed to blow you away. |

Artist History
Co-founded in July 2000 by vocalist Faron Halliday and drummer Chris Craig, Redbird was originally envisioned as a vehicle for delivering quality covers of blues and funk classics. As the band has developed into a tight musical unit, and particularly with the creation of original material, the band's stylistic range has expanded, broadening its audience appeal. Founding Redbird was the culmination of Chris and Faron's 10+ year musical and personal friendship. They had each progressed through a number of bands, eventually finding that in order to explore the kind of music that they wanted to play, they needed to start a band specifically aimed at performing "funky blues". In putting the band together, they were fortunate to find a number of accomplished musicians who shared their musical vision, including guitarist Josh Gordon and bassist Andrew Taylor. Redbird was specifically designed to be unlike any other band playing today. And they are. |

Press Reviews
A highlight of the Thursday new band showcase at Roxy's House Of Blues, Redbird did so well their first time in that manager Howard Ross immediately booked 'em back the following week. I caught the second show and can see why they're such a draw. Charismatic front man Faron Halliday is mesmerizing in performance, fascinating to watch as he becomes utterly and infectiously engrossed in the music. Guitarist Josh Gordon displays exemplary taste and boundless invention; there's an astute musical maturity behind his solo explorations. Bass chores are ably handled by Andrew Taylor, while drummer Chris Craig moves things along with equal parts power and finesse.
Redbird are a young band, and a few more gigs will add a necessary bit of seasoning. But they're building on a solid foundation, their first and foremost priority the delivery of a crowd-pleasing show. Their influences are impeccable too, and they manage to tread the line between respect for tradition and exuberant innovation. They get my highest recommendation now, and I can't help but think they'll only get better with time.
