Artist History After their previous band, Ritual ran its course in 1995, bandmates and old friends Larry Ashley and Terry Meeks both moved from Virginia Beach to the Washington DC area to pursue better career opportunities. The two remained in touch, and got together for the occasional jam session with various musicians. During this time, Steve Isenberg, a master of guitar, bass and keyboards was introduced to Larry and Terry by a mutual friend. Larry, Terry and Steve rehearsed for close to a year as a trio, recording several demo songs with Larry singing lead vocals. While the band was really excited about the new songs, it was clear that what was missing was a really good singer. Enter Olivia Meadows. Steve met Olivia at a Christmas party (she's Steve's cousin's wife's sister!). She mentioned that she sang and had written some songs that she wanted to record, and Steve mentioned that he had a small studio at his house. The plan was for Terry and Steve to engineer a demo tape of Olivia's songs with her singing and playing guitar, but once they heard Olivia sing, they immediately asked her to listen to the demos they had been working on to see if she might be interesting in joining the band. Olivia agreed to sit in with the band and see what happened. As it turned out, there was an immediate chemistry and newly formed band set out busily writing and rehearsing the songs that would comprise its debut CD, Letterbox. Now, with a new CD consisting of 11 original songs that are as fresh and exciting as they are hard to categorize, Iona Sky is taking the DC area music scene by storm.
